Gareth Eglinton-Pacitti
BACP Accredited Therapist | Supervisor-in-Training
I offer a compassionate and supportive space for you to reflect on your client work, deepen your clinical skills and grow as a professional.
Drawing on over a decade of accredited therapeutic experience and training in advanced supervision models, I provide a space where you can bring your successes, your struggles and your ethical questions without judgment.
What Supervision Offers You
As your supervisor, my aim is to facilitate your continuous reflection and development, ensuring your work is ethical and high-quality. Drawing from established supervisory models, the purpose of our work is to:
- Elevate Your Practice: Provide a regular space to reflect on the content and process of your client work, developing your understanding and skills.
- Containment & Support: Offer validation and support as a person and a professional and ensure you are not left alone to carry any challenges.
- Deepen Understanding: Offer an outside perspective and explore personal distress and unconscious processes like transference and counter-transference.
- Ethical Safety: Ensure the quality of your work and offer guidance on navigating ethical dilemmas and clinical challenges.
My Approach to Supervision
My approach is built on the BACP Ethical Framework and is deeply rooted in reflective practice, which I believe is essential for all practitioners.
I employ an integrative supervisory approach, allowing me to tailor my style to your experience level and the material you bring. I draw on models like:
The Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet): This comprehensive framework helps us ensure that we focus on all aspects of the work, moving between the client, your interventions, the therapeutic relationship, and the wider professional and ethical context.
The Cyclical Model: We will use this model’s stages—Contract, Focus, Space, Bridge, and Review—to ensure our sessions have clear structure and purpose, dedicating the central ‘Space’ to deep, non-judgmental reflection and exploration.
Developmental Thinking: I adjust my support and challenge based on your experience, recognizing that professional development is a long, continuous process that requires ongoing reflection.
We will explore different ways to reflect, including journals, case records and metaphor, to find what best supports your unique learning style.
My Specialised Focus
My therapeutic background and specialised experience mean I can offer an exceptionally informed perspective in the following areas:
Neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism) – An affirming lens and guidance to navigate this work effectively. We’ll explore specific interventions, discuss best practices and help you feel more confident supporting neurodivergent individuals.
LGBTQ+ & GSRD Affirming Practice – Support in creating a truly inclusive and anti-oppressive practice. We’ll discuss the unique challenges and considerations when working with LGBTQ+ people and those exploring polyamory or ethical non-monogamy.
Shame, Self-Criticism, & Imposter Syndrome – A safe space to explore the origins of these feelings and cultivate self-compassion, helping you feel more grounded and confident in your professional identity.
Building Resilience & Self-Care – Focus on managing the emotionally demanding nature of the work to prevent burnout and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
